Five Limbs Akimbo
Limbs Akimbo is the first large outdoor piece I created and it remains one of my favorites. It embodies one of my most important concepts, that the position and movement of rotating elements be completely random and unpredictable. And when the position and orientation of some rotating elements are dependant on other rotating elements, the piece can achieve billions of different positions. Ideally placed in moderate to higher wind conditions, Limbs Akimbo can show slow, unpredictable and erratic movements for minutes on end, then all three of the outer rotation elements can make a full 360° rotation in almost perfect unison before then going on their separate ways. It's why Kinetic Sculpture never fades into the background.
